From Zero to +$1K a Month | How I started My Freelance Journey From Scratch? | Starting as a Freelancer
Later, when I quit my corporate job to stay at home so that I could better care for my kids, I decided to find work online.
Back in 2017, I had no clue at all about what to start and from where to start a work-from-home job, an online business, remote work, and what is the gig economy or what are freelance opportunities?
However, I always had the belief in my mind that there are plenty of jobs available out there in the world.
But at that time, even my family members were not convinced by the idea of working online or working from home. For them, this kind of work even didn't exist (now, their mindset has changedπ)!
Everyone was just feeling pitty and saying that if I could get at least a job paying INR 15,000 - 20,000 per month would be enough. And, that most of the women just quit their jobs and then never come back to work.
This was really annoying for me as a person who already had an experience of 6-7 years working in corporates fetching a six-figure salary. And, as a female, I always wanted to be financially independent as my parents had always supported me in studying and got me a "can do" attitude.
So, no matter what, I decided not to quit and just be consistent with my efforts for finding suitable work for me to work online from home that too as per my skills and expertise.
I was never convinced by the idea of doing anything just for the sake of working and getting money.
On the other side, I wanted to have a kind of work that interests me the most and something for which I just don't feel that I am working. The job should be so exciting for me that I can do it at any time of the day and never feel tired of doing it.
It took me around 4 to 5 months to actually find something suitable for me. Due to my consistent efforts to find a job where I can use my skills, knowledge, and expertise, I finally landed a wonderful online job as a FREELANCER.
Until that time I had no idea of what freelancing is and how freelancers work (freelance lifestyle).
The freelancers are actually independent contractors who work and get paid for their work. The onboarding process was really tough involving 3 rounds and the final round was the technical round but I could just make it.
While applying for the freelancing position, I wasn't sure about how would I get the job but it just happened and I got stunned when I saw the welcome email.
At that time too, my family members were not ready to believe that a freelancing job could exist or a work-from-home carrier could exist that too for a technical job that involve expertise.
However, I started working and was very excited and happy because it was something that I was really fascinated about.
Later, when I first got paid, I could finally prove that yes, work-from-home jobs as a freelancer do exist for people like me who always wanted to work and earn money while being with my kids.
This was just a START..... I learned new things, refined my skills, used my expertise from my previous jobs, and worked day in and day out to make my carrier flourish and achieve my earning goals.
As I said, this was just the BEGINNING of the story (Freelancing experiences) in 2017... πππ
